An online match, a first date at Pizza Nova, and now an engagement session back where it all began. These two had a few places to show me.
First up, their neighbourhood pizza spot. It already had a place in their story; now it has the engagement photos to go with it. Pizza Nova even shared the photos on Instagram, which was a lovely little bonus.
Then we headed towards Leuty Lifeguard Station, with plenty happening along the way. People were playing music and singing together, dogs were out for their walks, and others were getting their workout in by the lake. Everyone seemed quite happy doing their own thing. It was easy to get caught up in it.
By the time we reached the beach, the evening light was looking very good. I found a spot for the two of them in the sun, and someone behind us called out, “You’re shooting a movie!”
Fair comment. It did look rather cinematic.
There was one more stop, and they were keen to take me: Ed’s Real Scoop. The best ice cream, they told me. I was very happy to join them for this part of the itinerary.
We finished with ice cream together, and by then it felt much more like an evening out with friends. I’d been invited into their little corner of Toronto—the first-date spot, the lake, the favourite ice cream shop and had the pleasure of photographing them in it.
If you’re choosing somewhere for your engagement photos, I’d love to know where you’d take me.
A Few Things to Know Before Your Engagement Session
Can we bring a change of clothes?
Absolutely. Bring a second outfit if you’d like a different look—we’ll work a change into the session. Wear something you feel good in and can comfortably move around in.
How much time should we plan for?
Around an hour works well for one small location. For two nearby spots, or a larger place we’d like to explore, I usually suggest 1.5–2 hours. We’ll plan the timing around the locations, walking between them, and any outfit changes.
What’s the best time for photos?
I love evening light, especially as we get closer to sunset. The exact start time will depend on the season and location—we’ll work that out together.
Where Shall We Go?
Tell me a little about the two of you, when you’d like to have your session, and any places you have in mind. Still deciding? We can figure it out together.
